Ernest worked for the Nashville Sanitary Department and was living at 614 2nd Avenue South, Nashville. He was 71 years old and married when he died of uremia on April 7, 1942 at Nashville General Hospital where he had been for two weeks. Burial was the next day in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Nashville.
