November 18, 2014

Marie (Franse) Mackechnie was called home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday November 18, 2014.

Her last words were, "I'm ready to go home". She entered this life on May 9, 1917, at the family homestead at Redlake, NM,
First of twelve children born to Walter and Jessie Franse.

She attributed her longevity to diet, good genes, and the comfort and guidance of the Holy Spirit. She spoke fondly of her service to the Baptist churches that she was a member of and how blessed she was to serve them.

She attended public school in Portales and then Eastern New Mexico Junior College, and later earned both a Bachelors and Masters degree in elementary education at Eastern New Mexico University. She taught school at Grady, NM, Tatum, NM, and then at La Casita Elementary in Clovis.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Walter and Jessie Franse, her sister; Carolyn Reese, her brothers; Clarence Franse, Donald Franse, and Ralph Franse, and an infant sister; Rusha Nell Franse. Also preceding her in death were her husbands; Jack Rodden and Leon LaGrone.
