She graduated from Berwyn High School at Gene Autry, Oklahoma in 1924. Like some of her sisters, she became a public school teacher.
Zuma married Gibson Smith, who was also a school teacher, on January 12, 1929 at Chickasha,Oklahoma.
Upon her retirement, Zuma had taught school in Stephens County for 47 years.
Zuma and her husband were very active in both the First Christian Church and many civic activites. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Gibson and Zuma had no children but were blessed with a host of loving nieces and nephews.
