RINGLING -- Services for Martha Jo Bishop Howard will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church with Brother Mike Williams officiating. Interment will be at Ringling Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Spivey's Reser Funeral Home.
Surrounded by the loving warmth of family and friends, Martha slipped through heaven's gate and into the eternal care of our Lord on Oct. 31, 2003.
Born Oct. 13, 1942, to Earl and Pauline Alexander Bishop, Martha grew up in Duncan. She married Randy Howard in January 1968. They had made their home in the Ringling community for 35 years, where they raised pure-bred cattle. Competing in cattle shows all over the Southwest, along with Randy, her children and grandchildren, was one of Martha's greatest passions and one at which she excelled.
Martha is survived by her husband, Randy, Ringling; a daughter, Gina Smith, and her husband, Tracy, Ringling; a son, Shawn Howard, and his wife, Lotty Ter Berg, Crecy la Chapelle, France; four grandchildren, Morgan and Chandler Smith, Ringling, Tatum and Levy Howard, Crecy la Chapelle; her mother, Pauline Middleton, Ringling; a sister, Syble Gilbert, Duncan. Preceding Martha in death was her father, Earl, 1992; a brother, Earl Lynn, 2001; and a nephew, Tony Hunnicutt, 2001.
Sharing in the great loss are additional family members and countless friends. Martha Jo, or "MJ," was a great blessing in our lives. Her courageous battle with cancer during these past months is a testimonial to her strength of character. Both her love of family and of life itself will be with us forever.
Bearers are Greg Allen, Brian Roberts, Tracy Rapier, Mike Gandy, Jerry Gandy and Roy Zavala. Honorary bearers are Ron Flanagan, Harold Allen, Ronnie Austin, Lyndal VanBuskirk, Charles Ray Pogue and Buss Brittian.
