Mrs. Mary Bayse Corwin, 80 years old, was found dead in bed Friday morning by her granddaughter, Miss Helen Corwin Johnson, at their home, 104 Jackson street. Mrs. Corwin was the widow of the late C.J. Corwin and the mother of Representative C.B. Corwin and Mrs. Mary Creel.
Mrs. Corwin's death was a shock to her many friends in the city. She had been sick some weeks ago but during the past month enjoyed fair health. According to the physician who hurriedly was called in, death was due to a stroke of paralysis. She had passed away several hours before she was discovered that she was dead.
Arrangements for the funeral services will not be made until the return of Representative Corwin who arrived early this morning. It is expected that burial will be made Sunday with the Reverend J.E. McDonald, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal Church assisted by the Reverend R.M. Talbert of the First Christian Church, officiating at the services.
Mrs. Corwin resided in Jefferson City most of her life and was active in church work and social circles during her lifetime. She was widely known throughout the state, and highly respected by everyone who knew her.
