His accidental death in Long Beach is mentioned in "A History of California and an Extended History of Its Southern Coast Counties (1907), Volume 1 By J. M Guinn" under his father Deloss Potter Thayer's biographical sketch on page 894 and 895.

His sister Lydia "Nellie" (Thayer) Saunders is also buried at this cemetery.

LIVE WIRE KILLS A LONG BEACH ELECTRICIAN
Special to The Herald.LONG BEACH, Feb. 27.— C. B. Thayer, night electrician for the Pacific Electric railway sub-station, was killed at 12 o'clock tonight.He had gone Into the gallery in the station to inspect the wires and his helper below heard him fall. The helper went up and found Thayer's body.- It is supposed he touched a live wire. He was 22 years old and unmarried. He is son of D. T. Thayer, superintendent of the Long Beach Water company, and resided at 428 West Estes street.
