Cleo C. Dietenberger (nee Rockweiler), 92, of Hartford, passed away on Saturday, June 26, 2010, at Cedar Bay West in West Bend.
Cleo was born April 10, 1918, in Cazenovia, to Joseph and Anna (nee Braun) Rockweiler. She was united in marriage to William Karl Dietenberger on April 14, 1943, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Sparta.
Cleo grew up on the farm and her strong work ethic came from her earliest days. She was a very interesting lady who loved to paint pictures and quilt, and would give away many of her creations to anyone who would ask or had a love for a certain piece. Cleo loved flower gardening and music and spent time singing with a trio, the "Lone Pine Trio." As a child she played in the polka band "Polka Pals." She was a member of Hartford Senior Friends for over 20 years, a place where she was active in a writing group and provided the noon-time entertainment with her piano playing. Cleo was a member of St. Kilian Church. She lived her life by the motto "family first, music second, and then art." Cleo will be deeply missed by all.
She is survived by her children, Rose (Vernon) Martin of West Bend, Thomas (Shirley) Dietenberger of Iron Ridge, David (Phyllis) Dietenberger of Rosendale, Kathryn (Dan) Allen of Stoughton, Mark (Joleen) Dietenberger of Marshall, Andrew (Carol) Dietenberger of Elkhorn and Eric (Agnes) Dietenberger of Hartford; 22 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; her sisters, Florence Deitelhoff of Cazenovia and Marie (Michael) Dwyer of Baraboo; and her sister-in-law, Mary Rockweiler of Cazenovia. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wm. Karl Dietenberger; her brothers, Alfred (Beulah), Bernard (Elizabeth), Frank and Alois Rockwieler; and her sister, Frances Stanek.
Mass of Christian burial for Cleo will be held on Thursday, July 1, 2010, at 1 p.m. at St. Kilian Catholic Church in Hartford with the Rev. David LaPlante officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at St. Kilian Church. Inurnment will take place at the Old St. Kilian Cemetery in Hartford.
