Murrell Vaughn Townsend 84 of Abner Community, Kaufman, Texas went home to be with the LORD November 6, 2014. Murrell was born on January 24, 1930 to Eugene and Eunice Townsend in Nacogdoches, Texas, Murrell married Joyce Hope Frier January 28, 1955. Murrell left home on his motorcycle with $25 in his pocket attended Draughn’s Business College in Dallas. He owned and operated AAA Electric Motors, established in April 1963. Murrell moved to Abner Community in 1980 farming and raising cows. Murrell enjoyed improving his property with his tractors, dozers and equipment, building ponds and clearing land for grazing. Murrell, a charter member of Abner Baptist Church was instrumental in establishing the church in 1990, donating the land and working tirelessly on the construction of the buildings. Involved in every aspect and enjoying working with the Pastor of seventeen years Brother Jay Barnes. Murrell is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Joyce Hope Townsend, Daughter Teresa Denise Dunn and husband John of Mesquite, two sons Jeffrey Vaughn Townsend and wife Sheryl of Mesquite, Brian Eric Townsend and wife Misti of Dallas. Six grand children, Amanda, Neil, Kristina, Valerie, London and Asa and three great-grandchildren, Austin, Chloe and Travis. Two sisters Garlene Thomas and husband Ronnie of Hurst, Imogene Pugh and husband Max of Nacogdoches, two brothers Keith Townsend and wife Inez of Dallas, Garth Townsend and wife Pat of Kaufman, sister-in-law Jan Townsend of Concord, California. And a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and many, many friends in Christ. Funeral Services were held Monday, Nov. 10, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at Abner Baptist Church with interment following in Kaufman Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Parker-Ashworth Funeral Home.
