Genevieve Catherine Metzinger Eckman, 99, died at 5:25 PM Monday, Feb. 27, 2006, in Regency Place, where she had been a patient for 18 months. Born at Dunnington, she was the daughter of the late August and Magdeline Bolac Metzinger. She was married to Leon P. Eckman on October 28, 1925, at Covington, IN; he died Oct. 21, 1991. Mr. Eckman was a former Lafayette fireman and assistant fire chief.

Mrs. Eckman was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral and the Women's Fireside Auxiliary. Genevieve will be remembered for her unconditional love for her family and friends.

Surviving are a daughter-in-law, Katie Eckman of Lafayette; two grandsons, a granddaughter, nine great-grandchildren; also several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Leon J. Eckman in 1976; four brothers, Wilford, Nobert, Leonard, and Carrold Metzinger; and three sisters, Marie Metzinger, Lillian Wyatt, and Cecelia Wing.
