Mrs. Phoebe Jane Staggers, aged 87 years, two months and one day, widow of David Staggers, died at 12:30 P.M. Tuesday, February 9, 1937, at her home in Whiteley Township.

A daughter of Jacob and Mary Woodruff Eakin, she was born September 8,1848, in Gilmore Township, but for the past 54 years had resided at the Staggers homestead in Whiteley Township, where she died.

She was united in marriage with David Staggers, whose death occurred 13 years ago. Mrs. Staggers was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Methodist Protestant Church.

She leaves three daughters and two sons: Mrs. Alice Gass, of Elizabeth; J. Randolph Staggers, of Whiteley Township; Miss Mary Staggers and Mrs. Edna S. Baxter, at home, and G. Ralph Staggers, of Jollytown.

Also surviving are nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, one brother, J. P. Eakin, of Jollytown, and one half sister, Mrs. Mary E. Brown of Fairmont, W. Va.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at the Staggers residence in Whiteley Township with the Rev. O. W. Bolton officiating.

Interment, which will be private, will be made Friday morning in the Eakin Cemetery at Jollytown.--Laura Nelle Poland Mallett obit collection.
