Daughter of Chris Cacklin of Ohio and Dorethea Dora Groeling of Germany.

Wife of Marsena Lymen Amsberry of Knoxville, Marion County, Iowa; married on 03 October 1888 in Ansley, Custer County, Nebraska.

"Emma Cacklin, eldest daughter of Chris and Dorothea Cacklin, was born near Springfield, Illinois on April 24th, 1865 and passed away after four months of illness at the age of 82 years, 4 months and 10 days.
At the age of eighteen she came to Nebraska, locating at Mason City. On October 3rd, she was united in marriage to Marsena L. Amsberry at the Methodist parsonage in Ansley, Nebraska. She moved to her present home in Ansley on her 82nd birth anniversary, after having spent 53 years in the Algernon community enduring many hardships during the first years of their married life.
To this union eight children were born, namely; Mrs. Mabel Miche, Rollie, LaVern, Viola, Ethel, all of Ansley. Others left to mourn are one sister, Katie Gross of Lowderdale, Florida; two brothers, Joseph Cacklin of Secar, Illinois and William Cacklin of St. Paul, Minnesota; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a host of friends and neighbors.
Those who preceded her in death are her husband, who passed away November 22, 1946; two daughters, Dora Ann and Emma Marie; one son, Sgt. Ora B., who died in France during the First World War.
She was baptized in the Lutheran faith when but a small child. Then, on March 27th, 1929, she with other members of her family, united with the Ansley Methodist Church. She was a devoted wife and mother, a loyal friend and a good neighbor.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon in the Ansley Methodist Church with Rev. Alice Allison in charge. Three songs were sung by Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Junk with Mrs. Hattie Mattley at the piano. Pallbearers were Warren Bellinger, Louis Purington, Dr. Curtis McCallister, John Hall, Charley Price, Fred Brand, John Eloe and Ford Curtis. Interment was in the Ansley Cemetery."
