Liz married Bennie Lindsey and on 24 Feb 1943 when she was 29, she enlisted in the WAACs in Los Angeles. She took basic training at Ft. Des Moines, IA and was transferred to Randolph Field, Texas. She was in an auto accident which paralized her for life, just 4 mos. and 19 days after she enlisted. She was discharged honorably from the Army on 7 Jul 1943 at Randolph Field. Liz and Bennie divorced. She was also briefly married to Robert T. McClain, this union ended in annulment.
Liz met fellow paraplegic Henry 'Hank' Hanson in the Long Beach, California Veterans Hospital and the two were married 7 Dec 1953 in Las Vegas, Clark Co.,NV.
The couple made their home in Garden Grove, CA where they had a 'wheelchair friendly' home built.
Hank died 13 Jul 1985 in Long Beach Vets. Hosp. Both Hank and Liz are buried in Riverside National Cemetery. She died 13 Oct 1998 in La Palma, Orange Co., CA.
Liz was survived by step son, Henry (Butch) Hanson of Montana. She had siblings, Jean, Ellen, John and Robert who probably predeceased her, as well as her parents.
