Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 24 at 2 p.m. (CDT) at Farmville Baptist Church in Opelika with Dr. Bob Baggott officiating. Burial will follow in Garden Hills Cemetery in Opelika.
Mrs. Weldon is survived by her husband, Clyde Weldon of Auburn; her children, Douglas F. Carter and Tina Weldon Holloway, both of Auburn, Joyce Weldon Kelley, Patricia Weldon Lewis and Ted Weldon, all of Montgomery, Chris Weldon Taylor and Robert Weldon of Opelika, Geanne Cannon of Jacksonville, Fla., Belinda Fairchild of Albuquerque, N.M., and Debra Carlson of Birmingham; three sisters, Francis Tartaglio, Mildred Carter and Evelyn Jones; two brothers, William A. "Buck" Ledford and Bobby Ledford; 19 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Born June 2, 1938, in Auburn, Mrs. Weldon was a member of Farmville Baptist Church. She was a volunteer with Child Advocacy Center of East Alabama, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and a Gold Star Sister of the American Legion.
The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at Frederick's Funeral Home in Opelika.
The body will lie in state at the church from 1 p.m. until the funeral hour.
The family respectfully declines the gift of flowers and asks that memorials be made to the Child Advocacy Center of East Alabama or Farmville Baptist Church in Opelika in memory of Mrs. Weldon.
