Born Jan. 9, 1913, in Springer to William Isiah Parker and Lenora Shockley Parker, he died Oct. 16, 2002, at a local health-care facility. He was preceded in death by his wife, Molly Lucille, in 1977; a daughter, Catherine Hammer; a son, Bill Bass, six brothers and four sisters.
Mr. Parker was a lifelong resident of the Ardmore area and a longtime member of Memorial Christian Church where he served as a deacon for many years. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 35 years of service, having served under eight different postmasters. He was a member of the American Legion Post 65 in Ardmore.
He is survived by two sons, Ricky Parker and Woody Bass, both of Ardmore; a daughter, Jackie Woodward, Lone Grove; a brother, Eulis Parker, Oklahoma City; 14 grandchildren and several great- and great-great-grandchildren.
Bearers will be John Day, Lew Hudson, Lynn Peery, Ken Butts, Clay Boyd and Paul King. Honorary bearers are George Huffman, Richard Walters, Charles Digby and Wayne Hobson.
