Paul John Breitenstein, 98, passed away October 21, 2014. A visitation will be held Thursday, October 23rd from 6:00-8:00 PM with a Rosary prayed at 7:00PM at Chapel Hill- Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th St., KCKS 66112. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, October 24th at 10:00 AM at Christ the King Catholic Church, 3024 N. 53rd St., KCKS 66104. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 1150 N. 38th St., KCKS 66102. Memorial donations may be made to Christ the King Catholic Church or Leukemia & Lymphoma SocietyAdvertisement in honor of Stephen Herrmann, 6811 Shawnee Mission Prkwy, Shawnee Mission, KS, 66202. Paul was born December 25, 1915 in Paxico, KS to Robert Louis and Martha Theresa Breitenstein. Paul served in the United States Army in WWII. He was in the European Theatre during the Battle of the Bulge and protected the Panama Canal at the beginning of the war. His company was the 87th Armored Field Artillery Battalion code named, Jeopard. He married Angeline Carr and they spent 62 years together in KCK before her passing. Paul was a member of Christ the King where he served in the men's choir, the Nocturnal Adoration Society and was a member of the 3rd order of St. Francis with St. Elizabeth Fraternity for 65 years. He worked for the United States Postal Service as a letter carrier for more than 30 years. In his later years, Paul enjoyed fixing lawnmowers for his friends and family and traveling the country with his wife. Paul is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Angeline; siblings, Mark, Rita, Helen & Esther and grandson, Stephen Herrmann. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his daughters, Teresa (Tom) Herrmann and Barbara (Al) Lopez; grandson, Joshua Herrmann. He also leaves behind many nieces & nephews.
