James D. Rumbarger, 94, of Galion died Sunday, October 19, 2014 at Signature Health Care of Galion.

Born August 19, 1920 in West Monterey, Pa., he was the son of Charles K. and Cora (Durnell) Rumbarger. He married Janet L. (Bishop) Rumbarger on October 3, 1955 and she preceded him on November 22, 2011.

He served in the United States Army in World War II and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Galion. James retired from Pittsburgh Plate Glass Industries after a 30 year career and was a life member of Disabled American Veterans. He especially enjoyed holding his young grandchildren as they fell asleep.

He is survived by son Jeffrey (Peg) Rumbarger of Lexington; grandchildren James Rumbarger, Michael (Krista) Rumbarger and Darci Woods and great grandchildren Jacob, Gabrielle and Garret.

In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by brother Wayne and sisters Betty, Dorothy and Alene.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at Snyder Funeral Home Richardson Davis Chapel, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio 44833 where services will be held at 11 a.m. with Pastor Ken Kinley officiating. Burial will follow at Mansfield Memorial Park.

Full military honors will be conducted by the United States Army and Galion Crestline Veterans Military Funeral Detail.
