Ricky died on Friday evening, December 20, 1996, at Children's Hospital in New Orleans from cytomegslovirus (CMV) four months after undergoing a transplant for biphenotypic leukemia after being diagnosed in early December 1995.

He was a student at Grace King High School in Metairie, and formerly attended J. D. Meisler Middle School, St. Ann School, Alice Birney Elementary School, and St. Stanislaus in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi.

Son of Kathryn A. Richard and Roy P. Horrigan.

Brother of Laura C. Richard. Half-brother of JoAnn Horrigan Gallagher, Julee C. Horrigan, and Roy Horrigan Jr.

Grandson of Doris George and Clifford J. LeBlanc; Eunice Mae Landry and the late Richard Daniel Horrigan Jr.

Great-grandson of Joseph John Melancon; and the late Agnes Elizabeth Duet and Clifford Joseph LeBlanc; Enola Sanchez and Henry George; Mathilda Dorothy King-Reed, Richard Daniel Horrigan, and Louis V. Schwall; Ellen Marchand and Olibert Paul Landry.

Godson of Mary Ann Newman and the late Kenneth George LeBlanc.


Some of his favorite things were: animals, "I Love Lucy", "Sahara", "The African Queen", "Some Like It Hot", "Airplane", Weird Al, football, and camping.


A private religious graveside service held on Monday, December 23, 1996. His mother, The Reverend Kathryn A Richard, officiated.

A Memorial Mass at St. Edward The Confessor Catholic Church, Metairie, Louisiana on Tuesday, December 31, 1996. The Reverend Gilmer Martin of St. Edward the confessor Church officiated.

Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Interment in Lake Lawn Park Cemetery and Mausoleum, 5454 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA.

Also in the crypt are Ricky's grandfather, Clifford J. LeBlanc, his grandmother Doris George LeBlanc and Sonny Martinez LeBlanc, the beloved family cat (April 15, 1986 - December, 2006), age 20, who was cremated. Sonny's ashes were placed in Doris' hands before her funeral, 11 January 2008.
