Miss Bertha La Monte died at 8:30 o'clock last night at the home of her mother, Mrs. F.M. La Monte, 150 South Hyde Park avenue. She had been an invalid nearly 15 years, having been thrown from a carriage on Thanksgiving Day 1876. Her case had baffled the skill of the best physicians of the country. She was for eight months in the Presbyterina Hospital, New York city. She also returned there several times afterward. She was at one time fourteen months in the Clifton Springs Sanitarium at Clifton Springs, N.Y. She spent several summers there afterward, where she was greatly helped. During her long sickness she had been at the point of death a great many times, and had been confined to her bed eighteen months previous to her death.
Miss La Monte, during all her illness and suffering, always displayed patient Christian submission. When her health permitted, she always was regular in her attendance at church and prayer meetings. She was a member of the Washburn street Presbyterian Church.
Notice of the funeral will be made hereafter.
