Eliza Jane Greenawalt was born March 19, 1837 in Toby Township, Clarion County to Joseph L. Greenawalt and Jane Grossman. She married Jacob Weaver, August 19, 1855. They had four children: Phoebe Jane Weaver, born 1856; Leah Anna Weaver, born 1857; Nancy Elizabeth Weaver, born 1859 and Jacob William Lehman Weaver, born 1861.
After her husband died in the Civil War, she married Joseph Kerr in 1864 and together they had one child, Clara Isabelle Kerr, born 1865. Joseph Kerr already had 6 children from his marriage to Catherine Henry who died in 1863. Between Joseph and Eliza, there were 11 children. Eliza wove rugs which she sold. She also helped build the Kerr homestead by carrying stones for the foundation. The hard work of caring for a large family sent her to an early grave at the age of 30 years in June 1867.
