Obituary, Pierce County Herald, Ellsworth, Wisconsin, Nov. 6, 1941
Mrs. Carrie Leonard Dies at Age of 95

Mrs. Carrie Leonard, an old and respected pioneer lady of Ellsworth, passed away in her sleep at 7:20 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, in her home at the age of 95 years and seven months.

Mrs. Carrie Leonard, the daughter of the late Alonzo and Almira Skinner, was one of seven children. She was born in Lewis, Essex county, New York, on March 20, 1846. Her father was a Methodist Minister. Her six brothers and sisters preceded her in death, as well as her husband and two of her children, Eugene and Claude.

Several years after her marriage she moved to this community with her husband and two daughters, Laura and Eugene, later settling on a farm south of this village. Two more children were born here, Mary and Claude.

In 1914 she came to Ellsworth to reside, where she passed away. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Mary Schofield and Mrs. Frank Anderson of Ellsworth, eight grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.

Mrs. Leonard lived a long, full life. She was vitally interested in the world around her, at home and abroad, right up to the time of her passing.

Funeral services will be held at the Halliday chapel on Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock with the Rev. A.A. Ross officiating. The song service by Mrs. W. H. Bittner, accompanied by Miss Emma Travis, will be two of the deceased's favorite hymns for the Christian Science Hymnal. Interment will be in the Maple Grove cemetery.
