Deceased Name: Jesse Dorman Dier
A native of Baton Rouge and resident of Central, passed away on October 30, 2012 at The Carpenter House, St. Joseph Hospice of Baton Rouge. He was 84, a graduate of Central High School, and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Zoar Baptist Church, where he was an ordained Deacon and also taught Sunday School for many years. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union 995, where he retired as Financial Secretary. Visitation will be held at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, Thursday from 5:00pm to 9:00pm. Visitation will resume Friday from 9:30am until the religious service in the funeral home chapel at 11:00am, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Kevin Hand. Interment will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Jesse is survived by his wife of 62 years, Annie Mae Dier of Central; his son, Tim D. Dier of Baton Rouge; daughters & sons-in-law, Jeanne & Ralph Eckert of Erie, Pennsylvania, and Patti & Steve Oufnac of Baton Rouge; grandsons & their wives, Garrett & Ashley Dier of Aiken, South Carolina, Bradley & Shannon Dier of Lake Jackson, Texas, and Reid Eckert of State College, Pennsylvania; great-grandchildren, Kelly, Austin and Cameron; sisters & brothers-in-law, Bonnelle & Floyd Devall of Central and Anne & Dr. Woodrow Wilson of Shreveport; brother & sister-in-law, Tony & Cindy Dier of Denham Springs; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Blanche & Mildred Dier; sister, Frances Dier; brothers, B.J. Dier, Donald Dier, Peter Dier and Jack Dier; and grandson, Trey Dier. Pallbearers will be his nephews, Joe Dier, Terry Dier, Bill Dier and grandsons, Garrett Dier, Bradley Dier and Reid Eckert. During his lifetime, he served as a deacon in the Baptist Church for 61 years. He also served as an instructor at the Baton Rouge Vocational Technical School and was a member of Central Masonic Lodge 442. He was a loyal LSU Tiger fan and loved to hunt and fish. He loved to travel visiting friends and family above all, spending time with his grandsons. Jesse never met a stranger and always put everyone before himself. He will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him.
