James was born in Berwickshire, Scotland to George born about 1781 and died after 1841. I found him living on the 1841 Scottish Census and Jane (Young) Anderson. Jane died "before 10 Nov 1864", Caseville, Huron Co., Michigan. James was the oldest of five siblings; brothers.

James' brothers names were John b. 11 Apr 1827, Darling b.01 Apr. 1830, William 22 Feb 1833, John b. 22 Oct 1835 and George b.02 Apr 1839. He and all of his brothers were born in Berwickshire, Scotland.

The John b. 11 Apr. 1827 must have died sometime between 1827-1835. I can't imagine one family having two children with the same name.

James, and his bride Margaret Cockburn were married in Berwickshire, Scotland 1850. On 28 Dec 1851, they were blessed with a son, and they named him George J. Anderson.

George J. later moved to Huron County, Michigan; to work the land his uncles purchased for his father. George, later married Elizabeth Carty. George, died 29 Mar 1928, in Caseville Township, Huron County, Michigan.

Sometime 1852 the small James Anderson family, his brothers, and mother set sail for Monteral, Canada. Their father and husband having been dead 12(?) years.

After landing at Monteral. They started farming near the town of St. Louis de Gonzague, Beauharnois County, Quebec Province, Canada. On land that Darling had purchased on 08 Nov. 1852.

After six years of farming at St. Louis de Gonzague James' mother and brothers sold the farm to James. Jane and her four sons moved to Halton County, Canada. The sons hired out to work as farm hands. After two years of working land that belonges to someone else the mother and her four sons moved to Huron County Michigan where they lived out their lives; farming the land.

Five of James and Margaret Anderson family are buried in this cemetery. Named John, Mary, Agnes, and of course both parents.

Meanwhile James and Margaret were raising their family. The children's names are George J. b.28 Dec 1851; Elizabeth (Lizzie) b.24 Apr 1854-d.25 Sep 1895; Jane (Geene) b.27 Apr 1856; Janet Brown b.14 Apr 1858; Margaret (Maggie) b.01 May 1860; Darling b.13 May 1862; James (Jr)b.25 Apr 1864-d.28 Nov 1927; Agnes b.15 Apr 1866-d.02 Mar 1953; John b.30 Nov 1868-d.25 Apr 1876; Mary b.02 Jul 1871-d.16 Nov 1876.

James was buried in this cemetery on 27 Dec 1897. The location of his grave is Stone 2-2.

His date of birth was found in the IGI; Batch No. 8801231, Sheet No. 43, Source Call No. 1396489 Type: Film This can be found in the Family History Libruary, Salt Lake City, Utah. LDS Church for short.

The date of death can be found on the tombstone seen above and http://www.rootsweb.com/~qchuntin/glener/1895.htm of Gleaner Extracts 1895, and this date is above. These are Canadian newspaper vitals records.
