Opera Singer. A lyric soprano of wide repertoire, she shall be remembered for her three decade career at the Vienna State Opera (VSO). Raised in the Austrian capital, she studied at the Vienna Music Academy, won the Cebotari Prize, and in November of 1951 made her VSO bow as a Maid in von Flotow's "Martha". Over her time with the company she sang 979 times in 54 different roles, her signature piece, which she performed on 235 occasions, being Barbarina from Mozart's "The Marriage of Figaro". Some of Anny's other characters included Pamina in Mozart's "The Magic Flute", Nannetta from Verdi's "Falstaff", both Zerlina and Donna Elvira in Mozart's "Don Giovanni", Liu from Puccini's "Turandot", Zdenka of Richard Strauss "Arabella", Marzelline in Beethoven's "Fidelio", and Susanna from "The Marriage of Figaro". Though based in Vienna, she appeared in a number of other major venues including Brussels' La Monnaie and La Scala Milano; she was awarded the Austrian Cross of Honor for Arts in 1969, bade farewell to the stage on June 9, 1982, and in 1983 was designated Kammersangerin, entitling her to use the initials KS before her name. Anny lived out her days in Vienna and died of the complications of advanced age; at her demise she could be heard on many 'live' pirates as well as several studio recordings including two complete preservations of "The Marriage of Figaro". In private life she used her married name, Felbermayer-Szekely.
She was married to Dr. phil. Gustav Szekely de Doba
