Theodore Unrau, son of Julius and in Anna Unrau, was born in Prussia on June 22, 1911. He came to the United States in 1926, and lived in Nebraska, where he worked for farmers. Then he moved to Paullina, Iowa, where he worked for farmers. On July 3rd, 1942, he was called to active duty in the army and served until December 10, 1945. On December 8, 1946, he married Sylvia Niebuhr, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Niebuhr. After their marriage they move to a farm near Calumet. In 1962, they decided to move to a farm northwest of Paullina. They farmed there until 1976, when they retired in moved to town. Ted passed away February 10, 1982. Sylvia works in the lunch room at the Zion and St. John's school. Ted and Sylvia are the parents of three sons. Theodore Unrau, son of Julius and Anna Less Unrau was born in June 22, 1911 in Germany. He came to this country as a youth and attended schools. He was called to serve his country in the Army during World War II. On Dec. 8,1946 he was united in marriage to Sylvia Irene Niebuhr in Paullina. After their marriage the couple farmed in Paullina area for many years, retiring in 1976 and moving to Paullina. Theodore passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 10, 1982 at the Baum-Harmon hospital in Primghar reaching age is 70 years, seven months and 18 days. Theodore was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith and was an active member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina, serving on the Board of Trustees. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife Sylvia of Paullina; three sons, four grandchildren, also one brother Julius Unrau of Spencer; two have sisters Mrs. Albert Amanda Beerman of South Sioux City, Nebraska, Mrs. John Lydia Schmidt of Dexter, Minnesota and one-half brother, Adolph Schoenrock of Hartley; also a host of other relatives and friends.
