Isaac was a successful farmer who owned 123 acres debt free when at the age of 45 years in 1879 he tragically died. The cause of his death is unknown but must have been unexpected and perhaps even sudden since he died without a will. His wife, Rhoda was left at age 41 with 12 children, ages 2 years to 20 years all still living at home. Their oldest son, Jonathan Clinton, at age 19 took over management of the farmland helped by his younger brothers and perhaps even his older sisters. Isaac had left Rhoda with the means to sustain their family.
