Russell M. East
UNIONVILLE – Russell M. East, 80, of Unionville, died Tuesday at Bloomington Hospitality House.
Born April 24, 1918, in Monroe County, he was the son of Henry B. and Mary E. (Tate) East. He was a retired machinist with the Indiana University physics department with 17 years of service. He was a pilot for 15 years for Cook Inc. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Survivors include his wife, C. Louise East; two sons, Martin D. East of Oolitic and Melvin R. East of Ellettsville; one daughter, Colette Asay of Lafayette; two stepdaughters, Diane Anderson of Bloomington and Becky Ramage of Unionville; one stepson, Russell W. Abram II of Auburn; one sister, Evelyn Hahn of Okeechobee, Fla.; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; several step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Alice Marie East, in 1991; an infant daughter, Kara Dawn East; one sister, Mabel Neal; and three brothers, Sanford East, Delmar East and Stacey East.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Allen Funeral Home with the Rev. James Moore officiating. Burial will be at Valhalla Memory Gardens. Friends may call 4-9 p.m. today and from noon until services Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Bloomington Hospice.
