ELLETTSVILLE — Melvin Russell East, 60, of Ellettsville, died Friday at Bloomington Hospital.
Born Jan. 8, 1942, in Bloomington, he was the son of Russell Melvin and Alice Marie (Fleener) East.
He had worked in the accounting department of Smithville Telephone Co.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and attended Ellettsville First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Rita (Jackson) East of Ellettsville; one son, Kent Russell East of Clawson, Mich.; one daughter, Lisa Kay East of Bloomington; one sister and brother-in-law, Colette and Carlos Asay of Lafayette; one brother and sister-in-law, Marty and Ginger East of Bedford; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister, Cara Doyne East.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Ellettsville First United Methodist Church, with Dr. P.T. Wilson officiating. Burial will be at Presbyterian Cemetery.
Friends may call 2-8 p.m. Monday at Chandler Funeral Home in Ellettsville.
Memorial contributions may be made to Ellettsville First United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home.
