Lt Col Alfred Medendorp served his country during WWII and Korea. He was killed on the island of Quemoy during a shelling of the island from mainland China.
During WWII, then a Captain, Al and his company hiked over the Owen-Stanley range. That Company become known as the Ghost Mountain Boys.
He was talked about in the 1966 Memorial Day Presidential speech by Lyndon Johnson at Arlington.
