Fred was the son of Rev. Thomas S. Armistead and his first wife, Mary (Royal) Armistead. He was born on 18 February 1880 at Taylor's Creek, Liberty County, Georgia. He was baptized by Rev. John W. Marshall. Fred was a handsome tall man with medium build, blue eyes and black hair. Note: His name is given as written in the family bible. PMLyons

In 1899, he was living at Irvine and at Anthony, both near Ocala in Marion county, Florida. He was a member of the Methodist Church of Anthony. PML

Fred married Nettie Leona Morris on 11 February 1903 in Jefferson county, Florida. Her sister, Ruth "Ruby" Morris married Fred's brother, Thomas Bryant Armistead, Senior. PML

Nettie separated from Fred and moved to Greenville in Madison County where she filed for divorce, which was finalized in 1916. The younger children lived with their mother. Nettie was a music teacher in the public schools at Greenville, Florida. PMLyons

Fred lived in Tallahassee at Rogers Boarding House. His eldest son, Fred, was living with him in 1918. Fred (the father) was a Relief Agent for Seaboard Airline Railroad based out of Woodbine in Camden County, Georgia. Fred was exempted from serving in WWI because of the removal of 4 1/2 inches of bone from his right arm above the elbow. PMLyons

Fred died at 1:00 o'clock in Tallahassee on 14 October 1918, according to the Armistead family bible. Location of remains is unknown at this time. His wife is buried at Sardis Methodist Churchyard near Tallahassee. PML # 48315564
