DEATH COMES TO
MRS. ANNA SMITH,
PIONEER RESIDENT
Widow of Late Edwin Smith Passed
Away At Family Home Yesterday
Was 89 Years Old.
Mrs. Anna Smith, 89 years old and since 1875, a resident of Leavenworth, died yesterday afternoon at the family home, Tenth avenue and South street. She had been in declining health for some time.
Mrs. Smith was a native of Wales, where she was born December 5, 1831. She came to this country at an early age and moved to Leavenworth nearly fifty years ago. She was the widow of the late Edwin Smith, who died fifteen years ago.
The deceased is survived by three sons: Edwin L. Smith, Hemet, Calif., D.J. Smith, of the home address, and Arthur J. Smith of Junction City, Kans., and one daughter, Mrs. Maggie Leach, this city.
Funeral services will take place at 10 o'clock Wednesday morning at the residence. Chaplain Allen will officiate. Interment under the direction of the J.C. Davis Undertaking company and will be made in Mount Muncie cemetery.
