•He was born in Romney when it was still part of VA aka BEFORE WV was created via seperation from VA; I did NOT put VA Iin the birth slot and the new system will NOT let me remove it even though it should ONLY say USA - VA would NO longer have his birth record. •

He is the son of John Baker White, Sr. and Frances Ann (Streit) White. (Frances was ••JOHN's (SR)•• 2nd wife.)

Paternal Grandson of (Judge) The Honorable, Robert White.

Maternal Grandson of Rev. Christian Streit (Lutheran minister).

Husband of Elizabeth Jane "Bessie" (Schultze) White, whom he had married on 7/25/1867 and she left him a widower.

He and Bessie had one child; John Baker White (Husband of Mary Ann (Williamson) White).

Husband of (his 2nd wife) Catharine (Steele) White of Dublin, Ireland, whom he had married on 5/26/1873.

He and Catharine had 4 children; Christian Streit White, Jr.; Elizabeth Adelphia (White) Howard (wife of Benjamin Chew Howard); Louisa Anna White; (The Honorable) Robert White, Sr.

He had served in the Army of (the former) Confederate States of America (CSA); Sgt. Major, Hampshire Guards, Co. K, 13th Virginia Infantry; Capt., Co. B, 23rd Virginia Volunteer Cavalry Regiment.; head of (the former) Confederate States Department of the Treasury.

Post-American Civil War, he served in various positions for the state of WV.

He was a member of the Masons, Clinton Lodge (Romney) and had been Master.

He was Presbyterian.
