Funeral services for Deryl L. Motteler, pioneer business man, rancher and dairyman of Leavenworth, will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. at the Leavenworth Masonic Temple, with the Rev.L.E.Tooley officiating. Burial will be in the family plot in the Wenatchee city cemetery. Zarthan Lodge No. 148 will be in charge of graveside services. Born on Dec. 2, 1899, in Washta, Iowa, he moved with his parents when a boy of seven to Leavenworth, where he attended grade school and high school. He was a graduate of the University of Washington and a member of Chi Psi fraternity. Mr. Motteler was interested in 4-H, Boy Scout and Camp Fire Girls' work; member of the city council from 1927 until 1943, mayor of Leavenworth from 1943 to 1947 when ill health forced him to retire; member of the board of directors of the Leavenworth State bank; vice chairman of the board of supervisors of the Soil Conservation; member of the Holstein-Friesian association of America, and Zarthan Lodge 148, serving as master in 1930; 32nd degree member of the Scottish Rite bodies of Wenatchee; member of El Katif Temple of Spokane, Wenatchee Chapter R.A.M. No. 22, Columbia Commandery No. 14, K.T., and Elks Lodge of Wenatchee. Mr. Motteler died suddenly of a heart attack Tuesday at Mesa, Arizona. Surviving are his wife; Margaret; one daughter, Mary Zoe; and one son, Frank R. Motteler. The Braun funeral home of Leavenworth is in charge of arrangements.
