Frank R. Motteler, 44, a lifelong resident of Leavenworth, died Monday afternoon at Cascade General Hospital in Leavenworth following a sudden illness. He was born March 22, 1937, in Leavenworth and attended Leavenworth schools, graduating from Leavenworth High School in 1955. In 1959 he graduated from the University of Washington, where he was a member of Chi Psi fraternity. On June 11, 1960, he married Janet Wedeberg in Seattle. They made their home in Leavenworth, where he operated Motteler's Feed and Farm Store until 1972. He also had an apple and pear orchard. Mr. Motteler attended the Leavenworth Community United Methodist Church. He was very active in the community and was a member of the Leavenworth Lions Club, the Leavenworth Chamber of Commerce and the Leavenworth Golf Club. He had served on the board of directors of the Leavenworth Fruit Co. and had also served on the Chelan County Planning Commission. Survivors include his wife, Janet, at home; four daughters, Melissa, Marianne, Megan and Margaret Ann Motteler, all at home; his mother, Margaret Motteler, Leavenworth; and one sister, Mrs. Del (Mary Zoe) Neubecker, Stanwood. He was preceded in death by his father, Deryl Motteler, in 1949. Memorial services will be held in the Community United Methodist Church in Leavenworth, Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock with interment in Mountain View Cemetery.
