Lloyd R. Wilson, 87, of Connellsville passed away Friday, April 25, 2014 in Excela Health Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant. He was born April 6, 1927 in Fairchance a son of the late Jesse and Matilda Mitchell Wilson. Lloyd had been a resident of Connellsville since 1955. He was a retired Construction foreman having worked for the former Bell of Pennsylvania. He was a veteran of WW II having served in the U.S. Navy. Lloyd was a very active member of the Connellsville Presbyterian Church where he was an Elder, Trustee, and deacon. He was also a member of the Connellsville Lions Club and volunteered as a Little League Coach and Boy Scout Leader.
Lloyd will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by his loving wife of 67 1/2 years Verlaine Thomas Wilson, his children Diane(William) Hillen of Vanderbilt, David Wilson of Connellsville, Judy Ambuehl (David Speshock) of Monarch, and Jeffrey Wilson of Olympia, WA., his grandchildren Laura Singo (Donna Murnigham), Christiann (Ron) Ohler, Darrel (Pam) Singo, Lisa (Jr.) Rowen, Scott (Karen) Hillen, Rylie Wilson, and Marney Wilson, great grandchildren Jessica Keffer (Patrick Grund), Emily Hillen, Marney Hillen, Shannon McHaffie, Haleigh, Hannah, and Hayden Singo, and Colton and Morgan Rowen, great great grandchildren Riley and Nathan Grund, and sister Ellen Cunningham of Fairchance.
In addition to his parents Lloyd was predeceased by his brothers and sisters Myrtle Cunningham, Harold Wilson, Emma Jean Beatty, Mary Evers, Alfred Wilson, Melvin Wilson, Curtis Wilson, Bernice Kneff, Wallace Wilson, and grandson Keith Hillen.
Family and friends will be received from 6-9 PM Sunday and from 2-4 and 6-9 PM Monday in the Brooks Funeral Home Inc., 111 E. Green St. Connellsville (724-628-1430) where a funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11;00 AM, with Rev. Suzanne Zampella officiating. A committal service and interment will follow in the Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the Connellsville Presbyterian Church, 711 S.
