Joseph Passey Lewis, 83, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend, passed away Thursday, September 11, 2014 at Bear Lake Memorial Hospital surrounded by family, due to complications of mesothelioma.
Joe was born on Feb. 6, 1931 to Samuel Wilford and Olive Passey Lewis in Paris, Idaho. He was the 10th of 11 children. He attended Fielding High School in Paris. After graduation he joined the Air Force and served from 1951-1955. Joe held many jobs in his life. The longest position was at Monsanto in Soda Springs where he retired. He also enjoyed working on the family farm and loved being in the fields and working with his cows. Joe was always a very hard worker. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, and camping.
He is survived by his wife Beverly, son Ronald (Patti) Lewis of Elko, Nevada, daughter Gay (Paul) Miller of Georgetown, Idaho, sister Nelda MacDonald of Huntington Beach, California, 6 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers, 5 sisters, and a granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm on Monday, September 15, 2014 at the LDS church in Paris. Friends may call from 10-11:45 prior to the services. Interment will be in the Montpelier cemetery.
