I always thought Mary was my "Aunt Mary" as that is what I always called her. She lived on Highway 5 in Owensville. I can remember sitting on her front porch with Uncle Fred (her brother) waving at people as they drove by. (Highway 5 was a very busy highway at that time.)
Mrs. Mary Jane Tillery, 83, of Owensville (Saline County) died Saturday. She was a Baptist, and the widow of Frank Tillery. Survivors include a son, Eugene Tillery of Texas; two daughters, Mrs. Jewell Watson and Mrs. Orpha Burks of Owensville; two brothers, Guy Caldwell and Doc Caldwell of California; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Owensville Baptist Church. Burial will be in Owensville Cemetery by Ashby Funeral Home of Benton. (from Benton Courier August 31, 1967, page 6B)
