Obituary in The Shreveport Times December 16, 2016:

TYLER, TX - A celebration of life service will be held for Myrtice “Mam Maw” Dare, age 91, at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at Rose-Neath Southside Funeral Home with Dr. Billy Pierce officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Park West Cemetery in Shreveport, LA.

Myrtice was born on January 23, 1925 in Castor, LA to Albert M. Myrick and Irene Caskey Myrick and went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 12, 2016. She retired as a bookkeeper from Riley Beaird after 20 years, then opened up a day-care in her home and kept children for 25 years. Her main goal in life was serving her Lord; her second priority was serving her family. She dedicated her life to her three children and sacrificed EVERYTHING to insure their future success.

Myrtice was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Irene Myrick and her loving husband of 50 years, Myron Dare. She is survived by her son, Dr. Daniel Paul Dare and wife, Sally of Vicksburg, MS; daughters, Diane Dare Vey and husband, Jeff of Bullard, TX, Nancy Dare van den Boom and husband, Will of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Elizabeth Dare Allen and husband, Dale of Brandon, MS, Jason Dare and wife, Kerri of Clinton, MS, Dr. Paul Dare and wife, Lauren of Vicksburg, MS, Andrew Dare and wife, Amber of Chattanooga, TN, Brian Stanley and wife, Cristy of Montgomery, TX, JD Vey and wife, Katie of Whitehouse, TX, Ashley Stanley Hodges and husband, Riley of Rocky Mount, VA, Chris Vey and wife, Tory of Tyler, TX, Kimberly van den Boom Harless and husband, Curt, and William van den Boom of Houston, TX; 16 great-grandchildren; brothers, Lawson Myrick of Shreveport, LA and Albert Myrick of Castor, LA; sisters, Bobbie Hattaway of Dry Prong, LA and Laura Blackwelder of Castor, LA; along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Honoring Myrtice as pallbearers will be Brian Stanley, JD Vey, Chris Vey, Jason Dare, Paul Dare, and William van den Boom.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made the American Cancer Society.

The family would like to say a special thank you to Heart To Heart Hospice in Tyler, TX and Oakbrook Health Care Center in Whitehouse, TX for their loving care.
