GOLDENDALE -- John Henry Poisel, 83, of Goldendale died Thursday in his home.

Mr. Poisel was born Nov. 16, 1902 in Indiana. His family moved to the Moxee area in 1904. Shortly after that, they settled in the Wapato area. He attended the Bradshaw School west of Wapato.

He and Nina May Byers were married Jan. 4, 1929, in Wapato. They ran a dairy farm near Wapato for 25 years, retiring in 1965. The couple moved to Amanda Park in 1972. They had lived in Goldendale two months.

He was a charter member of the Brownstown Assembly of God Church and later a charter member of the Harrah Assembly of God Church. He was a former member of the Dairymen's Association.

Survivors include his wife, Nina Poisel of Goldendale; three sons, Jon Poisel of Amanda Park, Ivan Poisel of Ridgefield and Ray Poisel of Wapato; four daughters, Mrs. Pat (Velma) Gilroy of Granger, Mrs. John (Delma) Gilroy of Amanda Park and Mrs. Ted (Alice) Kelley and Mrs. James (Pearl) Briggs, both of Selah; 32 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; a brother, William Poisel of Wenas; and a sister, Pearl Coleman of Tieton.

A son, Charles William Posiel, died in 1945.
