VETERAN AUTO MECHANIC DIES

MONTICELLO--Bert Bowsher, 86, Norway, died at 11:10 p.m. Tuesday at the Turtle Creek nursing home. He had been in ill health five weeks.

Born March 5, 1888, in White County, he was the son of Benjamin B. and Mary E. Luse Bowsher. He was married Dec. 15, 1920 to Ethel Mae Schnepp, who survives.

An auto mechanic by trade, he was said to have been one of the first mechanics in the state. He was an Army veteran of World War I and a member of the Monticello American Legion Post and the Old Cullen Creek Church.

Surviving with the wife are two sons, Roger and Clarence, both of Monticello; three daughters, Mrs. Mildred McCoy of Battle Ground, Mrs. June Nace of Monticello, and Mrs. Shirley Caudle of Terreton, Idaho; two sisters, Mrs. Dollie Carter and Mrs. Grace Schnepp, both of Monticello; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Two children preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Church of the Nazarene, the Rev. James Boone officiating. Burial will be in Riverview cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Miller-Voorhis funeral home is in charge of arrangements.
