Son of Jacob Franklin & Mary Lou (Mathis) Clinard.

After Curtis Alvin Clinard and Lila Irene Payne married, they settled first in Lee County, Georgia. Their first child, a daughter, died at birth in October 1923. Shortly afterwards, Alvin and Irene moved to south Florida. There were job opportunities there due to major hurricane damage, and hard times had come to most of the country elsewhere. Alvin found work operating road machines and helped rebuild the roads in Dade County. Their next two children were born during their years in Florida. Sometime around 1927, they moved back to Lee County, Georgia where Alvin took up farming for a living. They eventually settled in Albany, Georgia, and lived there until they moved in late March 1976 to live on property owned by their son, Curtis Frank Clinard, in Bibb County, Georgia. Just after they got settled into their new home, Alvin died of a stroke about two weeks later. Irene Clinard lived there surrounded by family until she died on April 2, 1992.
