Marian was born to Robert and Catherine Monaghan of Gillespie, IL. At age 25, Marian moved to Chicago where she met Donald F. Bowen. They were married July 4, 1943. Marian was an adviser in the Girl Scout organizations. She was also active in various community organizations including the Community Club and PTA.

Marian was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert Monaghan of Illinois and Carl Monaghan of California.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Donald of Duluth; children Donna Stone of Illinois, Ralph Bowen of Arizona, Timothy Bowen of Arizona and Betty Fackler of Hawaii; five grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and a brother, Ralph Monaghan of Springfield, IL.

The world is a better place because Marian Monaghan Bowen once lived here. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

Visitation: 1 until the 2 p.m. service Sunday in the Cremation Society of Minnesota, 4100 Grand Ave., Duluth, Chaplin Patrick Carey officiating. Cremation will follow services with private inurnment to take place at Forest Hill Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association c/o Duluth Family Practice Center, 330 N. Eighth Ave., Duluth, MN 55805. Services entrusted to Cremation Society of Minnesota.
