Gerhard “George” Loewen, 49 died Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at his residence in Sublette. He was born on December 6, 1964 in Mexico, the son of Heinrich and Sara (Thiessen) Loewen. He was the director of maintenance for the Sublette School District USD #374. He was a member of the Gospel Mennonite Church of Sublette, Kansas.

On May 15, 1988 he married Tina Berg in Mexico, she survives. Other survivors include: 2 Sons Leroy Jordan Loewen Sublette, Kansas Randy Jaylon Loewen Sublette, Kansas 1 Daughter Virginia Joline Neufeld and husband Jake Sublette, Kansas 6 Brothers 5 Sisters He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 sister. Funeral Service: 2:00 pm, Friday September 5, 2014 at the Gospel Mennonite Church in Sublette, Kansas, with Pastor Hans Hiebert presiding. Burial will take place at the Haskell County Cemetery, Sublette, Kansas. Visitation: 1 – 4 pm Thursday, September 4, 2014, at Brenneman Funeral Home, Liberal, KS. and 6 – 8 pm Thursday at the Gospel Mennonite Church in Sublette, KS with family to receive friends Thursday at the church. Friday, from 10:00 am until service time at the church.
