Lottie Williams Russell died peacefully with her daughters by her side on Sunday, August 31, 2014, at the Oaks at Mayview. She was born on June 21, 1923 in Wake County to the late Fannie Wall and James Henry Williams. She was married for 66 years to Alexander R. Russell, Jr. until his death in January, 2011. She was also preceded in death by her four brothers, Herman, Eldon, Melvin and L.D. Williams, and her four sisters, Norma Johnson, Janet Hilliard, Marvie Davis, and Algie Davis. Lottie is survived by her two daughters, Jane Brown of Raleigh and Lynn Weaver (Dave) of Wilmington, NC; three grandchildren, Jennifer Brown-Chin (Justin) and Alex and Henry Weaver; two great-grandchildren, Mason and Maddie Chin. Lottie was a graduate of Garner High School. She was a clerk in the Registration and Records office at NC State University for 20 years until her retirement in 1985. She was a long-time, active member of Westover United Methodist Church in Raleigh. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, September 3, at 4:00 pm at Westover. The family will receive friends at the Church at 3:00 pm prior to the service. A private burial will take place at a later date at Oakwood Cemetery. The family is deeply grateful for the loving care provided by the staff at the Oaks at Mayview. They are also grateful for the care and support provided by Lottie's Transitions LifeCare team. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Westover United Methodist Church, 300 Powell Drive, Raleigh, 27606, or to Transitions LifeCare (formerly Hospice of Wake County), 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, 27607. Arrangements by Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, Saint Mary's St., Raleigh.
