Winterville, GA - Elmer Eugene Burkhalter, 84, died August 31, 2014. Born in Monroe, he was a son of the late George David and Flora Mae Craft Burkhalter and widower of Mary Frances Jones Burkhalter. Eugene was also preceded in death by siblings, Ellis, James, June, Donald, Hubert Elder, and Charlie Burkhalter, Kate Meeler, Sue Meeler, Helen Hicks and Sandra Mobley.

Eugene was an avid sportsman and loved to hunt and fish. He was a Master Mechanic and built race cars for many years. He loved his family deeply and will be missed by many. He was retired from J.H. Ross Floor Service following 20 years of service. Survivors include his siblings, Bernice Martin and Thelma Ross of Watkinsville, Ben Burkhalter of Commerce, Juanita Henson of Center, Mack Burkhalter of Sandy Cross and Tony Burkhalter of Gainesville and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Lord and Stephens Chapel, EAST with Rev. Ronnie Healan officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Charles, George, Jeff, Rex, Tony and Ricky Burkhalter. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Burkhalter and Greg Mobley.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
