LuAnne Lauritzen Gustafson "Our Angel Mother"

Our loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend, age 50, passed away February 26, 2009 in Lander, Wyoming from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Born July 3, 1958 in Oakland, California, she was the daughter of Vaughn K. and Lona Mae H. Lauritzen. LuAnne grew up in Butler Hills. She graduated from Brighton High School and attended BYU and studied the piano, which was one of her passions. She worked at Dr. Robert Horne's office for years. LuAnne was introduced to Eric through a friend at Salt Lake County Fire. She married the love of her life, Eric Gustafson August 21, 1984 in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they have five beautiful and talented children, who were also the love of her life. She was so proud of them and all of their accomplishments. She never hesitated to tell anyone about her children. She was always smiling and made sure everyone knew she was there. LuAnne made everyone feel at home, no matter where she was. LuAnne loved to travel on family vacations. As a family we love our R.V. and love to spend our summer vacation in Yellowstone. Disneyland, Disney World and Washington D.C. were a few of her favorite places to visit. One of her favorite family vacations was our participation in the 1997 Sesquicentennial Mormon Trail Wagon Train. She always looked forward to family vacations. LuAnne played the piano at numerous school choir performances. She was passionate about school and the PTA. She worked hard doing all she could to help the PTA and schools succeed. She will be missed by Willow Canyon Elementary, Eastmont Middle School and Jordan High School. LuAnne loved her calling as the ward organist. She held that calling since she was about 14 years of age. She held other callings such as Activity Committee Chairman, Primary president, and Relief Society pianist. She fulfilled her callings with all her heart. She loved the Gospel and used every opportunity to testify of it. Her family and friends now have to work harder to honor the legacy of a life full of giving. We miss her and look forward to the day when we can laugh and play with her again. LuAnne is survived by her husband, Eric; five children, Elise, Elizabeth "Izzy", Elaura, Christopher, Elyssa; mother, Lona Mae H. Lauritzen; four sisters, Lona Von (Ray) Lamb, Laurene West, Lynette Williams, Leora (Craig) Ellingson; in-laws, Dan (Judy) Gustafson, Karina Gustafson, Gary (Susan) Gustafson and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her father Vaughn K. Lauritzen. She was joined in death by her mother and father-in-law, Jaret and Diane Gustafson. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2009 12:00 noon at the Willow Canyon Third Ward, 9636 South 1700 East.
