* Elizabeth Edwards Salter *

Elizabeth Edwards Salter was the oldest daughter of Thomas and Ann McBride Edwards. Elizabeth's father, Thomas, was born in Wales in 1795. Sometime between 1850 and 1854, the Edwards family moved from Belmont Co., Ohio - to Henderson Co., IL.

On Dec. 24, 1854 in Henderson Co., Elizabeth married David Salter, youngest son (and child) of Paul and Elizabeth Cubberly Salter. Both Elizabeth and David were from families of eight children.

Elizabeth died shortly after giving birth to their son, Thomas E. Salter. Thomas' middle initial - E. - likely stands for Edwards.

Elizabeth's husband, David, remarried. He was killed just 6 years later in the Civil War.

David and Elizabeth are buried next to each other in Salter's Grove Cemetery. Both sets of their parents are also buried in this cemetery.

I believe this might be the grave site of Elizabeth and David's son, Thomas. :
