SAM BOWMAN, 80, of Beattyville, Ky., died Friday, May 1, 1987. Born Oct. 11, 1906, he was the son of Green and Susie Young and husband of the late Lucy J. Wilson. Mr. Bowman was a retired barber ad a member of the McGuire Memorial Presbyterian Church.
Survived by one son, Sam D. Bowman, Beattyville, three daughters, Mrs. Colleen Bradley, Richmond; Mrs. Greta Payne, Lexington; Mrs. Nancye Quinn, Memphis, Tenn.; seven brothers, Robert Bowman, Burlington; Edd, Hobart, Albert, Homer, and Willard Bowman, all of Beattyville; Hubert Bowman, Winchester; three sisters, Mrs. Hattie Barrett, Cincinniati, Ohio; Mrs. Anna Mae Snyder, Hamilton, Ohio; Mrs. Dora Seale, Booneville; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, May 4, 1987 at 11 a.m. in the Newman Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Truman Geeslin and Sam Wilson officiating. Burial followed in the Riverview Cemetery, Beattyville, with the Newman Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were Clarence Bowman, Jack Slone, Harold Kincaid, Jesse Crabtree, Robert Nightingale and Virgil Kincaid.
