John Niles V was the son of John Niles IV and Mary; the grandson of John III and Hannah Stetsen Niles; gr grandson of John II and Dorothy Reynolds Niles; ggr grandson of John I and Margaret Nash Niles. This is the descendent line from Increase and Mary Purchase Niles; Increase being the son of Jane Reed and John Niles, the immigrant.
John married Experience Sloan the daughter of Peter Sloan and wife Dorcas (Niles) who had moved to Readsboro VT (near Shaftsbury) where her half brother John II Niles' family were already residing. These familes removed, prior to 1800. to the Rome NY area (Oriskany & Stanwix). Peter and Docas' daughter Experience Sloan (b 23 May 1794 Braintree - d. 18 Apr 1876 Stanwix, Oneida Co, NY) married her "1/2 cousin once removed", John V Niles at or near Rome NY. He died there the age of 78.
