Mrs. Bernice Harris Alderson, 83, of Columbia, died Monday, August 18, 2014, at Maury Regional Hospital.

 

Services will be Saturday, August 23, 2014 at 11 am at Pleasant Heights Baptist Church 2712 Trotwood Avenue, Columbia, TN. The officiating minister will be Apostle Kendall D. Alderson.

 

Burial will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens.

 

Visitation will be from 5:50-6:30 p.m. at Bellefant Tabernacle, 1607 Whatley Street, Columbia, TN.

 

She was a member of Fountain Creek United Primitive Baptist Church. She was born June 24, 1931. Attended school at Center Star (Culleoka, TN), College Hill School and Carver Smith High School. Longtime resident of the College Hill community.

She is preceded in death by one son the late William A. Baxter, adopted daughter and son-in-law Mrs. and Mrs. James Bateman, eight sisters and two brothers and one-step brother.

 

Her parents were the late Reavis and Versie Abernathy Harris.

 

Survivors include daughters Tonja (George) Napier, Yoland (Walter) Neal, Sandra (Wallace) Knott, Beverly Baxter; brothers Revis (Carrie) Haris Jr; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
