s/o Dannett, Sr. & Mary Lee Abney of Virginia. Abraham Abney was baptized on 27 December 1702 in Abingdon Parish, Gloucester Co. Before moving to S.C. with his son Nathaniel he was a Sheriff of Henrico, Co., VA. He was well educated and studied to become a Colonial physician which he attained in 1742. He also presented a petition to the Virginia House of Burgess, claiming discovery of a cure for cancer by some simples of the natural growth of the colony.

While Abraham, who accompanied his family to the 96 District of SC, was thought to have died on the Chester Co. side of the Broad River his memorial is combined with his son.
